This is my IBM xseries 345 home server. I got this from work for free. They were going to throw it away. **UPDATE: I have tested and installed Ubuntu on the Dell poweredge 2500. It runs fine. **UPDATE: Some specs on the xseries 345 server. -SCSI Raid Card [IBM (02R0970) SCSI Controller] -Processor 1st [3.067ghz/512kb Cache/533mhzfsb] -Fans 8x [Part Number 06P6250] -Ram Slot 1 & 2 [512MB PC2100] Slot 3&4 [256MB PC2100] -Power Supply [514Watt Part Number 49P2167] I cleared all the disk space and installed Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope). I currently have a proxy setup on this machine for learning purposes. I also use it as a network storage unit. The LAN is capable of 10/100/1000. I am running a switch that supports 10/100/1000. My Mac also supports 10/100/1000 so I get blazing fast file transfer speeds between the two. I also have two file storage add-on units that I am not using yet. I also have a Dell poweredge 2500 and a Dell poweredge 2450. The 2450 is a pile of nothing at the moment. The 2500 appears as if it could run just fine.
